We acknowledge that The Clearing sits on the ancestral homelands and traditional territories of the Hinóno'eí (Arapaho), Tsistsistas (Cheyenne), and Núuchiu (Ute) peoples, who have stewarded these lands since time immemorial. We honor the 48 contemporary tribal nations historically tied to the lands that comprise what is now called Colorado.
We particularly honor Chief Niwot (Left Hand), leader of the Hinóno'eí band who spent winters in the Boulder Valley, and recognize that Indigenous peoples of many nations have lived, hunted, gathered, and traded on these lands for countless generations. We acknowledge that Indigenous peoples continue to live and contribute to this region today.
As we work with psilocybin in our healing practice, we recognize that plant medicines have been sacred tools of healing and spiritual connection for Indigenous communities for thousands of years. We approach this work with deep reverence for the traditional knowledge holders who have preserved these ancient healing practices through generations of resilience and wisdom.
We acknowledge the painful history of colonization, displacement, and trauma inflicted upon Indigenous peoples, including the violations of treaties and the Sand Creek Massacre that directly impacted the Hinóno'eí and Tsistsistas peoples. We recognize that our presence on these lands is inseparable from this history.
In our commitment to indigenous reciprocity, we strive to honor traditional wisdom, support Indigenous sovereignty, and contribute to healing that extends beyond our individual practice to include the land and all who call it home. We pledge to continue learning, listening, and taking meaningful action to support Indigenous communities and their ongoing connection to these ancestral lands. We are grateful for the opportunity to offer healing services on these sacred lands, and we commit to doing so with humility, respect, and responsibility.
